I get to work at 6 am only to realize that I don't start until 7.30. Oh well, So I buy a coffee smoothie and download a blogging app for my iPhone. :) I really love my little electronic friend.
I had a couple of friends over from Sweden a few weeks ago and although they left days ago, Maui still feels empty without them. Azra and her (now) husband Daniel came here to get married. They took their vows on a beach in Makena. It was gorgeous and they were such a beautiful couple. I don't have any photos from the ceremony but here's some from when we went fishing in Kihei Harbor:

Daniel looks all mad but he's really not, it's just the sun in his eyes.
I had to re-apply for a social security number yesterday. My first application got denied because my status in their SEVIS databank wasn't 'active,' whatever that means. Anyhow, this time around it should all be fine and I'm supposed to have my ssn in two weeks. Lucky for me, my job has been very patient about this whole thing. Other employers would have been less understanding, I am sure. It seems like there's always something I have to deal with because I'm an alien here. I'm a legal, non-immigrant, temporary resident with a work authorization.
One of my co-workers, Mark, is from New Zealand but lives here, works here, got married here to an American, and have a baby girl here. He is still not an American citizen and won't be for another two years. For me, it will take at least another 7 (!!) years before I'll have my first chance to get that status. It'll take effort, money, some wits, and more effort. You know that song that says "Give me your tired, your poor...?" I think that "Give me your smart, rich and stubborn" would have been more appropriate.
Oh well, I guess all the fuss proves to me that I really want to be here. Why else would I go through it all?
Oh, on my way home yesterday I stopped by American Eagle. My shoes were breaking and I needed new ones. Guess what I found in there? Shoes!! For $15! :)) And a couple of T-shirts for Jordan, he hasn't bought new clothes for ages.

Shopping for the first time it a long time made me happy. I forgot how fun it can be. :)
