Maui Sunrise

I have to wake up early to get to work. Very early. Normally I leave home at five am at the very latest. It's completely dark outside. I take the bike to the bus and then the bus to the harbor in Ma'alaea, where the boat I work on awaits me. When I get there at six, it is almost light out. A few minutes later, a beautiful sunrise is born and blooms on the Eastern sky.

I see the sunrise every day. There is a lot of things in this world that gets old, but let me tell you that a Hawai'ian sunrise is not one of those things. It never gets old.

I'm On a Boat

The past three weeks have been kind of crazy. There are still stuff to figure out with insurances and immigration and on top of that my job as a naturalist for Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF) has been confusing for me. There is so much to learn and a lot of different things going on at the same time that it has taken me until now to get a somewhat accurate overview of what is really going on at my job.

I work on a boat most of the time. We take (mostly) tourists out on boats to different spots where they can snorkel and experience Hawai'i's marine life close up. Our first stop is always a crater outside of Maui called Molokini. The water out there is very clear and even on a bad day you have no trouble seeing what is going on at the bottom 30 feet (10m) down. It's like snorkeling in a pool full of coral and fish.

Our second snorkel spot varies but a lot of time we go to turtle arches or turtle town, where we see turtles more or less everyday. We also see spinner dolphins now and then, including today. It's a really awesome job and I'm so happy I got it.

I have to go pick Jordan up at his new job. He got a job at Rolex and I'm so happy for him. I'll have to finish telling you guys about my job later.

Aloha!

First Day

So tomorrow's my first day on the boat. I'm kind of nervous although I'm not sure why. The people seem really nice and Jordan's driving me so I've got a ride over there. Last time I got a new job was... four years ago? Geez... Anyways, whish me luck! :)

I Got a Job!

I am now working as a naturalist at the Pacific Whale Foundation on Maui. Crazy, isn't it? I had my first day of work today. I basically sat on the beach for four hours talking to people. Needless to say, it was awesome. :)

I was there to inform the public about Hawai'i's marine life and it was really cool. We asked people about what they had seen in the water and created a list of maybe 20 different animals.

I got the news about the job three days ago and it's still a little weird, in a good way. Actually a great way. :)

It's almost scary how well things have turned out. Everything just seem to fall into place like pieces of different puzzles fitting together perfectly in some strange way. I keep on wishing for things and they keep on happening. It feels like things can't keep on going this well and I kind of wonder when the back-slash will come. Oh well, maybe it's just in my mind. I certainly hope things will continue being good.

Now Connie's waiting in the kitchen with coffee and coconut cake so I have to go. :)
