After the workshop me and Jordan went to a close by Italian restaurant called Mediterraneo. The food was crazy good! The owner, however, is a middle-aged Italian man with a 20-year old wife who came straight from Vietnam 9 months ago so that they could get married... I know to be wary of any prejudices regarding white men and younger Asian women, they might just be in love, but the way he was and the way she was... It just didn't seem genuine. Anyhow, to each their own, right?
Tomorrow morning I'm going to my beloved Kailua beach. I miss it so much and I'm really looking forward to it. To get there I have to ride the bus for an hour and then another hour to get back, that's how much I love the place.
After the beach I'm going back to HPU to attend an OPT workshop. OPT is basically a working visa that you can get after you have completed an education in the US. As usual, there is a ton of paperwork to fill out and hand in and if it is filled out in the wrong way then your application will be denied. Therefore the school wants everything to go through them and the workshop is set up to help us fill the OPT application out in the right way the first time, hence saving both us and the National Security authorities time and energy.
Once that is done I have studies to do, especially regarding my littrature review and research proposal in my marine biology senior seminar course. It will be about the Hawaiian Monk Seal (see pictures below) population. They are pretty cool the little buggers, and I would very muc h like them to hang around for another millenium or so. Unfortunately, that is not what the situation looks like at the moment. They are endangered, just like their cousins the Mediterranean Monk Seals.
In short, here is what I need to do the next 3 months:
1) Graduate
2) Get my OPT
3) Get a job
Numbers one and two won't be that much of a problem, it's number three that I'm worried about. Especially since there are a few organizations that I really want to work for. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
